CNN Dumps Michael Moore For Paris Hilton

tehpwnrate on 6/25/07 (63 positive comment votes)

And while CNN is showing this irrelevant news, I’m sure the Daily Show will have some actual news. Damn it’s sad what the news has become.

I think he pretty much sums up what is going on here in the new media age of the 21 Century.  While this comment got 63 positive comment diggs (the top voted comment got491 so far, I feel that it is actually the best comment for the story posted.

Hilton Ordered Back to Jail! –

Hilton Ordered Back to Jail! –

This has clearly taken over the web. The comments on stories related to this are in the 200+ range on popular blog sites. TMZ got 1500+ comments on the situation.

And on Digg, in the comments I find out that the sheriff is a what???

By an0nymous 9 hours ago
Well looky here: Sheriff Baca is a scientologist.

“Baca even videotaped a birthday message for the dead founder of Scientology L. Ron Hubbard”

(Not sure how this fits in to Paris…) Interesting no??? The comment above got 206 positive votes.

On TMZ, you had some well wishers. A few get well and God will be with you sort of comments. Those were actually some of the few first comments on the blog post.

Other comments were not to favorable of Paris, including one comment that broke the page format saying, “Yes!!!” continuously in one line with no spacing.

One commenter has given you a way to write to Paris… not sure if that will work considering she went to medical probably as soon as she got there. Here is the link:

Yes… someone is trying to cash in. And yes there is more:

Is comment spam going to a new level, or is it just me?

If you are wondering what she did, here it is:

She pleaded no contest to reckless driving and was sentenced to 36 months’ probation, alcohol education and $1,500 in fines. In the months that followed she was stopped twice while driving on a suspended license. The second stop landed her in Sauer’s courtroom.

Is it something that many people from all walks of life get off for, or does Paris Hilton get special treatment because she never had to live in an environment like that in her entire life?

I have no answer to that. I haven’t seen any posts that speak to that issue either.

I another sentencing related event, digg posted about a 17 year old getting  a mandetory sentencing for consented oral sex… with a 15 year old. So this was obviouslt brought up against that in one comment:

By masonreloaded on 6/07/07

Like the Georgia guy who is serving a mandatory TEN YEARS for consensual oral sex with a 15 year old when he was 17??? And prosecutors/judges/governor are refusing to lessen his sentence, even though he has already served over 2 years in jail and the law has since been changed to a MAXIMUM one-year sentence because of his case…

If you wish to read through a few hundred comments on Digg (some of them are very explicit while others reallt go into detail about what is going on and where you can find more info) just give a click here.

Overall, I think in the world of the social net, this seemed to really hit a cord with people in a big way. I do wonder what the aftermath of this will be. Will my questions of “is this something that usually happens to inmates” be answered? What about what has been brought up by others that if it was a minority, they would have served the whole 45 days.

What does MADD think about this? How is this effecting other starlets?

Kiss Her! « Random Vandal

Kiss Her! « Random Vandal

Here is a blog post that has been featured on and of the main page of WordPress for the past week or so. Why? I think it is because it reaches a part of everybody who ever liked someone but just never took the chance for whatever reasons.

The person on the blog thinks a women wrote it. I personally think a man did. Since men in our society tend to be the ones putting the first foot forward on the subject of going out while women tend to be the ones who give either a yes or no.

As far as same gender is conserned, this is not a male asking a male. So if this is a female thinking about another female, I would tend to believe that the female wouldn’t have the hang ups a male would in asking out someone.

There are over 130+ comments on the article. Here are some of the comments posted: Continue reading

Hot Air » Blog Archive » Back-taxes requirement stripped from amnesty bill — at Bush’s urging

Just over 100 comments about this subject. It is an interesting subject to say the least. Would people who probably don’t earn very much in the first place, pay back taxes on money earned while they were illegal?

Here are some comments on the subject:

Uhm……I might owe some back taxes…where do I sign up to get in this immigrant line to get them all ignored? This sounds like one heck of a great deal for me!! 🙂

(A reply to the above comment)

Denounce your citizenship, leave the country, then sneak back in with false Id’s like all the illegals. You will be on EZ street from that point on.

Wade on May 19, 2007 at 5:41 PM

I can’t believe they think a majority of citizens are just going to sit back and let this nonsense happen without some sort of response. What are they smoking in D.C.? What do they think is going to happen when they reward lawlessness? Do they think lawlessness will decrease instead of increase? Think of all the unintended consequences that will happen after this legislation passes.

This is an enemy government, folks. It’s an illegal, illegitimate government that doesn’t deserve power anymore. This is a government that has willingly separated itself from the people in order to advance an anti-American agenda. I’m not calling for a civil war, but it won’t matter what I say or do if this legislation passes. Millions of others will eventually act. It might take awhile, but act they will.

It’s the end of the world as we know it.

It would seem mostly one sided in views on the comments. Feel free to register and make you opinion known to those who frequent the site (whether you agree with the slant of things or not). As usual, I learned a little something… in a democracy, any underdog can work with other underdogs of the same community and speak out (vote as well) and get what they want to a certain degree. I wish more people realised this. The pen is mightier than the sword.

Why All The Censorship? HD-DVD Has Digg In Its Pocketbook.

55 positive comment votes

GawtMilk on 5/02/07

Jesus, this is just some proof that diggers are complete and total morons. Instead of alerting people who could actually MAKE USE of the keys, the thirteen year old dateless lowlifes went around saying “09 F9 11 02 9D 74 E3 5B D8 41 56 C5 63 56 88 C0” in every fucking thread. Look at the outcomes.

1) HD-DVD encryption keys were changed
2) No HD-DVDs were actually played thanks to this valuable information
3) Digg was ruined for a day, who really wants to see eighty different ‘articles’ talking about 09 F9 11 02 9D 74 E3 5B D8 41 56 C5 63 56 88 C0?
4) Regular threads were spammed with the string of numbers.
5) There are only a few HD-DVDs using these keys
6) Who the fuck even has an HD-DVD drive in there computer

Why not wait until more HD-DVDs were produced with the key / more people had the drives?

Why would Digg want the big companies to realize we new the key? What did you expect them to do, think “shit, they’ve got us now”? Fucking stupid. HD-DVD decryption was in our hands, and you fucking morons blew it. The story should never have been posted in the first place. The average Digger had no use for that information. It’s not like VLC Media player has an “input HD-DVD encryption key” dialoge box we could’ve used.

Thanks a lot, assholes. Rather than showing the encryption keys to people who could’ve actually used it for good, we showed it to the general public who turned it into some shitty meme. That’s all it is anymore, a shitty meme. We no longer have anything. You morons fucking ruined it.

WE CAN NO LONGER USE THE KEY “09 F9 11 02 9D 74 E3 5B D8 41 56 C5 63 56 88 C0”. THEY CHANGED THE KEY.

I agree with the mere fact that by posting this thing all over the place, you have now made it unusable. I think this was more about who controls Digg and what gets shown…

Really? people saying ‘no thanks’ to iPhone? I seen the Apple tablet PC today on some site (have to find it now) and I have to say THAT looks real cool. But the iPhone; no I am not feeling that. Great idea though, but not iPod enough. I want a phone that plays music so bad it hurts… but who/what/where/when will do it up the right way?

This stuff is interesting… worth a read (the story and, of course, the comments) .
