Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows « The Singing Stranger

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – plot spoiler and full text « The Singing Stranger

Yet another top WordPress blog post on the wonders of which is Harry Potter and the Deathly (real word?) Hollows. Considering that the movie is out and the book comes out today (Saturday 07/21/07) I am sure the posts and articles on this book will continue into next week.

The blog post does go into what is believed to be the ending of the book. People dead, people alive, people married with children… All of this for download. I guess the big question of the day is will this effect sales? Will someone buy it today and then post the WHOLE book?

Personally, I think the book is a collectible and kids, as savvy as they are about being online, will probably want the physical book in their hands. Then again, when it comes to kids, who knows. I also wonder if this kind of thing will push the web further and further into the sites of lawyers and lawsuits.

Well, that is my comment… here are some other people”s thoughts on the blog post:

  1. Grace Says:
July 19th, 2007 at 7:38 pm I am so outraged. How can you end seven books with ‘All was well.’? I don’t want to hear that! I want deaths and things which make you go ‘oooh!’. That brings a whole damn new meaning to the word ‘pants’. Plus, how can Harry Potter lead a normal life after all of that? The trauma, for one thing, I imagine would be a problem. Poor Ginny, I bet all the romance has gone from the relationship now Harry’s not likely to die. Good for Ron and Hermione though. The two better characters got hitched. Good. I am such a Potter geek…I think I’ll leave it at that.
  2. Lee Fan Quo Says:
July 20th, 2007 at 7:28 am Dunno, kinda sounds suspiciously like it was ripped off The Secret Life of Douglas Manson (written by Robert Sturtevant). The similarities are pretty extreme. And how come both have a villain named Severus who dresses all in black yet is complex and contradictory inside? There are just two many similarities here for my liking. Read both books back to back and you’ll see what i mean. And Hermione’s like a weaker version of Lei-Ling. What do you think?

New Transformers Series Coming to Cartoon Network

New Transformers Series Coming to Cartoon Network

If the image of what the show is going to look like actually true (the image is on the right in the article), then I don’t think it will be that great. It will be on the Cartoon Network and of course Hasbro will be on the team.

Now, there are actually NO COMMENT on this blog about this. I am actually shocked that no one has said anything directly on the blog especially considering that Transformers will be coming out next week (and that most people on Digg are tech geeks… yeah, this blog post was featured on Digg just a few minutes ago) .

Well there are comments on Digg about this. 31 comments currently… which is kinda low considering the topic…

My favorite comment so far was made by Gotar:

Loonatics anyone?

LOL!!! If anybody remembers the Loonatics (a futuristic version of Bugs Bunny and crew), it was not that good (but at the same time it was… which is kind of odd). Let hope that the new new NEW Transformers (Generation… what are they u to now… 10?) does better than that. And lets hope that they keep the transforming sound… because if they don’t

Why Michael Moore’s SiCKO is a health care documentary every American must

I you want people on Digg to comment, just bring up anything that has to do with tech, games, open source… and health care. 449 comments is quite allot for something that got 1800+ votes. Usually the comments for such an article with the range of 1800+ has 100 or so comments. I guess allot of people are wondering what is right (or wrong) with the medical system the US of A has that is basically bankrupting private companies, public agencies, small businesses, and even the doctors who have to pay high insurance (and pay back educational loans). Who is winning with this system is the real discussion on Digg.

Digg Link Pick Quote:
America’s disastrous health care system is heaving the country head-first into near-certain economic collapse. Just about everybody’s either financially strained or going broke due to spiraling health care costs: the people, the employers, state governments and even the federal government. Multinational corporations are fleeing the United States du…

Hot Air » Blog Archive » Back-taxes requirement stripped from amnesty bill — at Bush’s urging

Just over 100 comments about this subject. It is an interesting subject to say the least. Would people who probably don’t earn very much in the first place, pay back taxes on money earned while they were illegal?

Here are some comments on the subject:

Uhm……I might owe some back taxes…where do I sign up to get in this immigrant line to get them all ignored? This sounds like one heck of a great deal for me!! 🙂

(A reply to the above comment)

Denounce your citizenship, leave the country, then sneak back in with false Id’s like all the illegals. You will be on EZ street from that point on.

I can’t believe they think a majority of citizens are just going to sit back and let this nonsense happen without some sort of response. What are they smoking in D.C.? What do they think is going to happen when they reward lawlessness? Do they think lawlessness will decrease instead of increase? Think of all the unintended consequences that will happen after this legislation passes.

This is an enemy government, folks. It’s an illegal, illegitimate government that doesn’t deserve power anymore. This is a government that has willingly separated itself from the people in order to advance an anti-American agenda. I’m not calling for a civil war, but it won’t matter what I say or do if this legislation passes. Millions of others will eventually act. It might take awhile, but act they will.

It’s the end of the world as we know it.

It would seem mostly one sided in views on the comments. Feel free to register and make you opinion known to those who frequent the site (whether you agree with the slant of things or not). As usual, I learned a little something… in a democracy, any underdog can work with other underdogs of the same community and speak out (vote as well) and get what they want to a certain degree. I wish more people realised this. The pen is mightier than the sword.

Lysol for Feminine Hygiene « The Chawed Rosin

Lysol for Feminine Hygiene « The Chawed Rosin

You know people seem to always say it was better back in the days. They will say something like, “In my day we didn’t have to lock our doors” or  “We had more respect for our elders”… you know; the usual ‘things were better-slash-if only we could turn back the hands of time’ type of sayings.

Well…

Paris Ordered to Serve 45 Days in Jail – TMZ.com

Paris Ordered to Serve 45 Days in Jail – TMZ.com

The reaction to this blog post about someone going to jail is amazing! (600+ comments) The first comment was pretty civil, then it just took a nose dive… overall I think the comments are more interesting than the story.

Paris, you are what we all aspire to be; rich, famous, and free. You are the epiphany of all our dreams. You do as you please 24 hours a day. Most of us are prisoners to our daily grind. We support you Paris because you bring glamour and excitement to our otherwise mundane lives. Some suffer from extreme jealousy, that is why some attack you. Thank you for letting us live vicariously thru you. Good luck.

Well, celebrity blogs have a strong following and even stronger loyal commenters. Allot tends to be childish and IN ALL CAPS or commenters WrItE lIkE tHiS… but there are some very insightful and educational comments…. and the rest are just HILARIOUSLY FUNNY!

Anyway, back to the topic of the focused blog post, here are some comments.

thanx for posting this, so you could shut up the other websites posting breakup rumors, it seem that when something is goin good, especially for black ppl, folks look for things to be wrong. Go ahead monica, i love you, always have, always will and i wish you and your fmily the best
Apr 30, 2007 9:39:00 AM

And somehow the comments got into how Monica dresses her kids…

I don’t know what I think about a blog that removes comments the moderator disagrees with. Should we get on here and ride Monica’s jock? She publically makes bad decisions on the regular. She puts her son out there for scrutiny in that ridiculous clothing posing like a rough neck, dates married murderers (C-Murder) and suicidal thugs and jobless strip club dwellers. I know the music industry would have to you to think all black people are down with criminal/ghetto culture, but as comments across many blogs would suggest, that is not the case. I thought she would outgrow this madness soon enough, but she appears to have some kind of mental block when it comes to behaving like a grown ass woman.

In what such a fashion do other 2 year old models/kids wear Sean John and Rocawear exactly?

Sandra, why did you remove the comments regarding the way Monica dresses her son in his thug attire? Readers were just stating the truth? Nothing negative was being said about her child – who is beyond precious and undoubtedly favoured by God and supported by many :-)…the child is innocent in the matter. Responses were to the childs’ parents in portraying their son and dressing him to look like a lil’ gangstar. Then she states that she is supporting our black designers, however none of the Sean John and Roc’have kid models modeling their clothing in such a fashion. Monica no one is hating, simply stating a fact that in many of your childs pictures that you have shared with the world, you dress your child to look like a thug. But honey, to each his own..peace.

monica is an awesome woman, PERIOD. and love is beautiful. as far as her son’s attire goes, she may dress her son as she feels. i know a lot of young black men on honor roll in high school, college students that do very well, and even a principal of an engineering firm who dresses this way and none of them are thugs and never have been. it’s sad that people look at your attire to judge your character. i guess when i show my legs and little cleavage, i’m seen as a whore although i have 2 degrees, volunteer in my community, have a ruthless investment portfolio, make my own money, and am married. some people…(shaking head)
Apr 30, 2007 11:28:00 AM

That last comment is interesting… but so are the others. While the rumor of her breaking up with him due to bad boyfriend-ing oon Rock’s part seems to pale in comparison to a kid being dressed up in what you would see an adult wearing… or more to the point, a urban youth wearing… or even MORE to the point someone who is into Hip Hop culture… or even more extremely to the point thugged out. (Why did WordPress spell check want to turn “thugged” into “hugged”? LOL. There is a hidden message in there. Don’t we all need a hug?)

I can imagine that this will come up later somehow.
